Mangaluru: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will hold a ‘Janagraha’ convention at Nehru Maidan, in support of a bill for the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.
The convention is being held to mount pressure on the Central government to pass a bill in the upcoming Parliament winter session, facilitating the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
VHP zonal secretary Sharan Pumpwell, told reporters at the VHP office ‘Vishwashree’ in Kadri on Tuesday, that nearly 50,000 Sri Ram devotees would assemble at the maidan.
“During a baithak of seers from across the country, a resolution was approved to urge the government to pass the bill, “he added.
“Preparations for the convention are in full swing,” he said adding that similar programmes would be held simultaneously in Bengaluru, Hubballi, Nagpur and Ayodhya. In Delhi, the Janagraha meet will be held on December 9.
In Mangaluru, Rastriya Bajrang Dal Convener Sohan Singh Solanki will deliver the keynote address. Prior to the convention, a procession will be taken out from Dr B R Ambedkar circle to the programme venue.
VHP district president Jagadish Shenava, criticised the ‘Anti-Hindu policy of the Kerala government’ with respect to the issue of entry of women into the Sabarimala temple. He questioned why the Supreme Court order on Azan was not being implemented. He meanwhile, urged the Centre to intervene in the matter to preserve the 500-year-old tradition of Sabarimala temple.
