Mangalore : The Bantwal Police officials under the leadership of Bantwal Circle Inspector K Nanjunde Gowda formed a team and nabbed five vehicle thieves on Feb 18, said SP Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao.
Revealing the information on the accused nabbed at the press meet held at Mini Conference Hall at SP Office on Feb 25, Friday, he said that earlier two accused Moideen alias Unni alias PS (37) son of Ummar, resident of Varkady Village, Manjeshwar and Haneef alias Eli Haneef (37) son of late Badavakunni, resident of KBS Jokatte, Baikampady, Mangalore were caught red hand on Feb 18, 2011.
The officials also seized two motorbikes and interrogated the accused. During the interrogation, the culprits revealed that team members who were involved in stealing the vehicles from Karnataka, Kerala and Maharastra state.
Based on the information the officials arrested other three identified as S Ashraf (28), son of Ramla, resident of Kamblabettu, Bantwal Taluk, Syyed Nihal alias Syyed Irfan alias Irfan (40), son of Rashed Saab, who hails from Shimoga and resides in Bangalore and Moideen Shareef alias RTO moideen (42) son of Mohammed Shareef, resident of Cheppina Katte, Hassan.
SP Rao said that the officials have retrieved 14 four wheelers and 22 two wheelers from the accused. The accused are said to make the fake document, change the registration and sell it to the respectable citizens like doctors, lecturers and others.
He also said that, most of the robbed vehicles are been regisrated in KA 21, which are been robbed in past two years.
Accused Nihal and Ashraf disguise themselves as the vehicle brokers and sell the vehicles. It is reported that there are around 25 vehicle theft case on Nihal. The new vehicles are been stolen with using duplicate keys and old by direct start.
The recovered 14 heavy vehicles are two lorries, two tipper, 1 Innova, 1 Swift, 1 Santro, 1 maruthi 800, 2 Maruthi Omni, 1 Indica, 2 Scorpio and 1 Qualis. The vehicles such as 2 Lorries, 1 Omni, 1 Tavera, 1 Scorpio are yet to be recovered.
The vehicles were recovered from Bangalore, Hubli, Mandya, Mysore, Javagali, Arsikere in Hassan, Manjeshwar and Bantwal.
The officials like Vivekananda, MRM Tahshildar, Rakshith Kumar, ASI Kepu Gowda and Head Constables like Sanjeeva Purusha, Jnanshekhara, Kalaimar, Dinesh, Jayaram Rai, Police Constables like Palnivelu, Vijay Kumar, Vasu NAIK, Raja, Prashanth, Jayakumar, Girish, Vishwanath, Jagannath Udaya Kumar, Umesh, Basavaraj, Darnappa, Sridhar, Sheshanna, Praveen, Madhu Prakash, Subhash Shenoy, Nagarajappa, Nagaraj Hegde, Udaya Naik, Sitaram, Mahesh, Shailendra, Rithesh (Computer Department), Police Drivers like Vijayeshwaran, Vijay Gowda, Yajna Narayana, Mohan Poojary, Narayana Gowda under the leadership of Bantwal Circle Inspector K Nanjunde Gowda.
The police official’s team who participated in the operation has been rewarded with RS 10,000. Puttur SP Rohini Katoch was present at the press meet.
