Mangaluru: Five achievers in the fields of education, media, Konkani music, art and literature will receive the prestigious Sandesha Awards for the year 2019 at a function to be held on January 22 next year. Two outstanding institutions which have been serving the society have been chosen for the Sandesha Special Recognition Awards.
The information was provided by eminent writer Na D’Souza on December 4, Tuesday. Noted writer B M Rohini has been chosen for Sandesha Education Award, while senior journalist and Associate Editor of Prajavani B M Haneef has been chosen for Sandesha Media Award.
Fr Ben Britto Prabhu, Capuchin Fransiscan priest from Mangaluru will receive the Sandesha Konkani Music Award while eminent theatrical personality Prasanna Heggodu will be conferred the Sandesha Kannada literary Award. The Sandesha Art Award goes to Manjamma Jogati from Kampli.
Snehasadan and Jeevadaan, HIV/AIDS care centres at Gurupur run by Camilian Religious Fathers and Camilian Religious Sisters respectively have been selected for the Sandesha Special Recognition Award.
The Award comes with a trophy, certificate, citation and a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
The Award presentation ceremony to be held at Sandesha premises will be attended among others by Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru,Rev Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, Dr Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Ballari Diocese and DK District in-charge Minister U T Khader.
