Mangaluru: Various organisations and individuals observed Vijay Diwas to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in 1971 at the War Memorial in Kadri here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner S. Sasikanth Senthil said one has to get inspiration from wars and sacrifices.
Amidst several forces working to divide Indians, they have to united fight against such divisive forces, he said.
Former MLC and retired Captain Ganesh Karnik said remembering the soldiers should not be confined to one day, but one should remember them throughout the year as they have been sacrificing their life for the country.
District Superintendent of Police B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda said one should think about one’s contribution to the country. Besides fighting the enemy from outside, one has to fight the enemy within, he said.
District Ex-Servicemen Association’s former president K.N. Bhandary said the day is being observed to remeber the sacrifice of Indian soldiers during the Indo-Pak war. Association Working President Deepak Adyanthaya, Police Commissioner T.R. Suresh, Coast Guard Commander, DIG, S.S. Dasila, Zilla Panchayat CEO R.Selvamani and others were present.
