Mangaluru : Vikas Group of Institutions celebrated its Annual Day on the 31st December 2018 in the college premises. Chief Guest of the function Dr. N. Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte University, enlightened the students asserting the supremacy of honesty and hard work over mere knowledge. He made it a point that looking for short-cuts and aiming for mere financial gain are not commendable. He also addressed the teachers and evoked them to have a connection with students rooted in love and respect and also to bring out the best out of each student.
K Jayaprakash Hegde, former Member of Parliament and former Minister, Government of Karnataka, in his address, motivated the students to find happiness in serving the society and also advised them to give respect and thus receive respect. It’s not money or high degrees that gain one respect but one’s behaviour towards others. He also advised students to inculcate reading habit which is going to make a telling difference in one’s life.
Discipline is the hallmark of Vikas, said Krishna J. Palemar, Chairman, Vikas Education Trust, Mangaluru. To transform the young minds to be responsible citizens, socially and environmentally relevant programmes are conducted by Vikas Group of Institutions not only on its own campus but also in many other institutions, he added.
The function started by invoking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by the Prize distribution ceremony. Meritorious students who topped in First Year PU Board Examination of 2017-18 and First Year Examination of Bachelor of Physiotherapy of 2017-18 were felicitated and sports and games state level champions were also honoured. Sri. Premnath Shetty, Coach, Net Ball team and fitness trainer, Vikas PU College, and Sri. Akash Shetty, Coach of Kabaddi Boys’ Team, Vikas PU College, were honoured for their outstanding contribution in achievement of Vikas teams. ‘Aakrithi’, college magazine of 2018-19, was released by the Chief Guests. Vikasians were further mesmerised by the cultural extravaganza by Sanathana Natyalaya, dance performance by Jnana Aithal team, musical concert by Wake up Band and variety of programmes by BPT students of Vikas College of Physiotherapy.
