Mangalore, Feb 28: The DK Dalita Seva Samithi, Vitla stage a protest urging various demanding like implementing the city buses and others demands in front of DC Office on Feb 28, Monday.
SP Anand, district secretary, said that the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar located in front of Vidhan Soudha must not be shifted.
He also said that the state government must grant 1 acre of land and fund for the construction of Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hall in Vitla. The meter reader in Mescom who is working from past many years on the basis of contract must be made permanent.
B K Sesappa Bedrakadu, district president said that the local people must be given compulsory job opportunity in Karnataka State Regional Transport Corporation and fill the vacancy available in these organizations with promotions. The sincere officers working for the development in the Mangalore division must be given opportunity to work for one more year, he added. Various other demands were also put forth on the occasion.
They said if the district administration or government does not meet the demands, the samiti will stage hunger strike in front of Vitla office on March 31, 2011.
The protestors walked al around from Vitla Dalita Seva Samiti office at morning 8 am on Feb 28, Monday and reached in the venue at 6.30 pm. Around 200 members participated in the protest.
Sri Sri Shashikanth Mani Swamiji of Kanayana inaugurated the jatha in Vitla.
Secretary Chandrashekar, Monappa and honorary president Bhanuchandra Krishnappa were present.
Later the memorandum was submitted to the DC Subhodh Yadav on the occasion.
