Gujarat : Out of  the 31 accused by a special fast-track Court on Godhra Arson killings, of 59 VHP/Sangha Parivar workers by setting fire to their coach by Muslim militants, eleven accuse persons were found guilty of murders, and sentenced to death on Tuesday (today) while awarding life long imprisonment to others for life by the court.
The “conspiracy to kill” theory had been accepted behind the torching of coach s-6 of Sabarmathi Express on 27-02-2002. While 63 accused were acquitted, including the main accused Maulvi Umarji, who led the arsonists from a mosque near by  other 31 under trial were penalized in the final verdict. The deaths of VHP Hindu volunteers led to wide spread riots among Hindus in Gujarat.
The trial was conducted inside Sabamathi Central Jail from June 2009. The final verdict has come today.
