Udupi : An accused in the rape and murder of a minor arrested on Monday after he had escaped while being escorted to Hiriyadka Prison on Sunday.

The person identified as Hanumanthappa Basappa Kambali.

Kambali had been arrested in connection with the abduction, sexual assault and murder of a 17-year-old minor in Shivalli on March 9.

He had succeeded in giving a slip to police on Sunday while being escorted to Hiriyadka jail. Acting on a tip off by local residents that Hanumanthappa was having tea in a hotel in Hiriyadka, police succeeded in arresting him.
