Kasaragod : A Puppet play team from Kasaragod has secured world lass recognition by winning an international award.
The award was given to Kasaragod Sri. Gopal Krishna Yakshagana Puppeteers at the end of a puppetry festival in Prague (Europe) last week.
Robert Waltair, Chairman of Selection committee stated that the Indian Puppetry team followed the coastal traditions in presenting their play in the festival held from May 31 to June 6. 39 countries participated in the Prague (Romania) festival. K.V. Ramesh was the director of the team. His brothers Prakash and Sudarshan, as also brother-in-law P.K Venugopal travelled to Prague as team members. The award-winning Yakshagana episode was “Narakasura Vadhe’, Experts from Norway, Algeria, Japan and other countries were members of the selection committee. A world Association of Puppeteers had organized this festival.
