Mangaluru : BJP workers filed a complaint on Wednesday evening at Barke police station after finding hundreds of voters in possession of two electors’ photo identity cards (EPICs).
BJP leader Vinay L Shetty of Urva in his complaint to Barke police station said that, about 100 inmates were staying in White House homes in Mannagudda ward. Three months ago, the White House homes and the residents shifted to a new building in Alape.
“The names of the inmates had been included in the electoral rolls, in violation of all guidelines. The names should be included in the list only after ensuring that the voters had been staying in the locality for the past six months,” Shetty specified in his complaint.
The complainant urged the police to register a case against Santhosh and 28 others under Section 17 (No person should be registered in more than one constituency) and 31 (False declaration in electoral roll) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
Shetty has also urged the police to arrest the officers who had been involved in the electoral malpractice by facilitating the release of EPICs.
