Mangaluru : Urban Development Department to hold a meeting of officials Mangaluru in the first week of July to resolve issues relating to Mangaluru City Corporation, including introducing an online system of approving building plans, said Minister for Urban Development U.T. Khader here on Monday.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Khader said the proposed system of approving building plans online and payment of property tax online has been pending.

Principal Secretary to Urban Development Department will be among the officials who will participate in the meeting, he said.

Mr. Khader said Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy launched the online land and building plan approval system in 25 urban local bodies on June 13. The State government has planned to extend this system to about 50 urban local bodies in the next few days.

The Minister said common building bye-laws for the State is being finalised and it will be released shortly. Among the provisions to be covered include compliance of buildings to green norms such as adaptating rainwater harvesting, use of solar power, and proper system of waste disposal.
