Mangaluru : The Mangaluru city police have nabbed two drug peddlers in Marakada and seized about 40kg of ganja from their possession on Wednesday.
Police have seized a car, a weighing machine and cellphones from the duo, the accused were nabbed from Kavoor area following a tip-off.
The arrested have been identified as Iqbal, 34 and Fazal, both residents of Kasaragod in Kerala.
Explaining their modus operandi, the police said that the duo procured ganja from Andhra Pradesh. They later transport the same to Bengaluru. Duo in order to escape the police radar used to travel in train’s general compartment between Andhra Pradesh and Bengaluru. After reaching Bengaluru, they would hire a car and transport ganja to Kasaragod. Later, they sold ganja to various places and Mangaluru was their major market.
According to police, the estimate value of seized ganja is valued about Rs 12 lakh.
A case has been registered under NDPS Act at the Kavoor police station .
