Mangaluru : Abhayachandra Jain, Senior Congress leader and former minister has urged the state government to announce Kodagu like package o Belthangady which erlier government given.
Speaking to reporters at the party office here on August 14, Wednesday, he said the rain related loss of property in Belthangady is double than that of Kodagu district.
He also appreciated the efforts put in by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to tour the flood-hit areas across the state despite not having any ministers in his cabinet.
He said that over 300 houses have been completely damaged and 200 houses partially damaged in the taluk, he said three bridges have been destroyed by floods while many mini bridges and vented dams have also suffered damage. Crops in 100 acre land have also been destroyed, he said and demanded that all affected people must be provided rehabilitation facility.
Party leaders Harish Kumar and former minister UT Khader have already appealed to the CM for a special package for the taluk.
A Congress delegation will also meet the CM and make an appeal once again, Abhayachandra informed.
Congress leaders Vishwasdas, Raghuraj among others were present.
