New Delhi: There was no divorce but only misunderstanding due to an –error of judgement, as PM Manmohan Singh would describe it, o the short rift between DMK and Congress at the national level; before Pranab Mukherjee did the repairs.
DMK and Congress have now formalized a poll pact foe Tamil Nadu, a day after breaking the deadlock for the April 13 Assembly elections, in which 63 seats are allotted to Congress. This is perhaps the highest, when earlier agreements used to cover 10 or 15 seats for the national party under the friendship of a regional party (DK divided into DMK and AIDMK)
Karunanidhi and TNCC President K.V.Thangkabalu signed the new pact, after 15 day discussions.
The DMK and Congress parties had contested together in 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha polls, apart from 2006 Assembly elections as an alliance.
DMK Supremo paved the way for continued cooperation between Congress and DMK alliance.
