Mangalore : The Mangalore City Corporation selected seven members each for standing committee members for four different committees at the standing committee member’s election for the 14th term held at conference hall of MCC on March 11, Friday.
The members of Tax, Finance and Appeal Standing Committee are Nagendra Kumar and Gretta Rebello from opposition party and ruling party members are Sharath Kumar, Sarojini Kotian, Surekha Srinivas, James D’Souza and Vijay Kumar.
The elected members of Standing Committee for Public Health, Education and Social Justice are Vijayalakshmi and Naveen D’Souza from congress and Yashawanth Meenakaliya, Ashwin Kumar, Revathi K, Amithakala and Sumithra from BJP are elected.
The elected members of Town Planning and Development, Standing Committee are Bhaskar Rai and Harinath from Congress and Premanand Shetty, Mohan, Bhaskarchandra Shetty, Shakuntala D Karkera and Dayanand Anchan from BJP.
The elected members for the audit and accounts standing committee are Mamatha Shenoy and Gulzar Banu from Congress and Rajashri, Ranganath Kini, Santhosh Kumar, Madhu Kiran and Prema Muralidhar from BJP.
The members have been unanimously elected by filing nomination in the presence of Mayor Praveen, Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak and MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash.
Roopa D Bangera, Sudhir Shetty, Diwakar, and Shanta R have served as standing committee members during the tenure of ex-mayor Rajani Dugganna.
