Mangalore: A J Hospital and Research Centre in city has organised a Thyroid Camp from March 14 to 19 at the Hospital premises, to detect problems relating to Hypo/Hyper thyroidism, but the concerned hormone is essential for all organs to function.
Surgery is not the only way to tackle the Thyroid problem, only few swellings need surgery. People need to be educated on this aspect, through the Camp underway. At a small fees of Rs.175, camp participants are offered consultations and tests like T3, T4 and TCH.
People with symptoms such as swelling in the neck (goiter), excess weight and constipation, or menstrual flows in excess, hair loss, dry skin, hoarseness of voice, heat intolerance, extra sweating, tremors etc., can approach the doctors for appointments. A hormone called ‘Thyroxin’ has to be taken to reduce thyroidism.
Hormone-related diseases are effectively treaded in Endocrinology dept., at AJ Hospital, which is the first of its kind in coastal Karnataka. Dr.H.K.Ganesh heads this department.
