Mangalore : The laity organizations in collaboration with Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK) held at special felicitation programme to felicitate the newly elected Zilla Panchayat (ZP) and Taluk Panchayat (TP) members of the Catholic community at Milagres Senate Hall on March 13, Sunday.
Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore presided over the event and honored 19 elected TP and ZP members with shawls and flowers.
Dolphy D’Souza, in his keynote address said that there is need for unity among members of the community. He also said that community must fight against the false allegation of conversion.
In his address, Lewis spoke of the need for leadership in the community. Fr. J. B. Crasta also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Derek Lobo, the president of CASK and Elroy introduced the speakers to the audience.
The Catholic Sabha’s official website www.amchosandesh.com was inaugurated by Fr. Vincent Monteiro, the spiritual director of the Catholic Sabha.
Fr. Anil D’Souza of ICYM, Rudolf Tauro of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Lilly Periera of Catholic Association of South Kanara, Colin Mathaias of the Christian Planters’ Guild, M. P. Noronha of the Catholic Lawyers Guild, Jessy Tavera of the Ladies Social Service, and others were present.
