Mangaluru : BPCL emerged champions in the XXIV PSPB Kabaddi tournament by defeating ONGC in the finals which was held in MERC Lawns on 31.1.20. In the previous match, host team MRPL defeated CPCL convincingly and retained the third position.
Huge gathering at the venue was the highlight of the event. A large crowd comprising of Children and adults alike cheered their favourite stars. This response shows growing stature of kabaddi in India after the Pro Kabaddieague era. Mr Manpreet Singh of ONGC emerged as the best raider, Mr GirishErnak, Mr KashlingAdake and Mr RishankDevadiga of BPCL emerged as the best defender, best all-rounder and player of the tournament respectively.
Teams from oil majors namely ONGC, BPCL, MRPL, CPCL and EIL participated in the tournament. In the valedictory ceremony held after the match Shri Rajeev Kushwah, CVO, Shri BHV Prasad, GGM- HR and ShriShri T Ramakrishna, GGM – Projects distributed the prizes. Captains of each team were all in praise for the excellent arrangements made by MRPL for the tournament.
The jam packed audience experienced and enjoyed watching a top class match of International level players at their premises. Many of the selfie and autograph hunters among the crowd had a field day as the stars were kind to oblige them.
