Mangalore : Dr. B. S. N. Prasad, the commissioner of income tax inaugurated the 2-day state-level student youth conference Edify 2011 with the theme  ‘progressive Bharath’ organized by MSNM Besant Institute of PG Studies of Bondel on March 23, Wednesday.
Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, the president of Women’s National Education Society, presided. Dr. Narayan Kayarkatte delivered the welcome address and introduced the chief guest. Sachin R. Chandra, the faculty coordinator of the event, spoke briefly about Edify 2011.
The event will include lectures by former minister Jayaprakash Hegde; Addoor Krishna Rao, the consumer activist and environmentalist; Dr. Jacinta D’Souza, the principal of School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya; Swami Jitakamanandaji, the adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Mutt Mangalore; Dr. Kishore, the deputy director of the department of physical education and research at Mangalore University; and Vasanth, the national athletics coach.
The valedictory ceremony will be held on Thursday. Manel Annappa Nayak will preside and Balakrishna H., the assistant general manager of KIOCL will deliver the main address.
