Mangalore : The Karnataka State PF Pensioners Association staged protest in front of Bhavishya Nidhi Bhavan at Falnir on Mar 29, Tuesday requesting for improvements in the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995.
Addressing the protestor on the occasion, Secretary Sukumar said that today the central an state government is giving pension to all the officials according to their post including the police officials. Further they may give pension to the police dog but they are not willing to give pension for labourers.
He also demanded the government to amend the EPS 1995 to stipulate a minimum pension of Rs 1500 per month. The workers are demanding to bring improvement in the pension scheme from past 16 years but it has been ignored.
The pension scheme was sent to Supreme Court but the court gave the verdict pro central government. The government sends pension money to banks on the second of every month, but the banks do not releases it.
President Vasanth Achari said that in the light of ever increasing process of essential commodities, the pension must be linked to Consumers’ Price Index so as to provide for payment of dearness allowance.
The benefit of Return of capital shall be restored. The percentage of reduction for calculating reduces pension shall be restored to 3% instead of the present 4%.
Treaurer J Balakrishna Shetty, Ramani Moodbidri, U B Lokayya, Sanjeeva Bangera, Sadashiva Das, Sunil Kumar Bajal and others were present.
