Udupi : The district recorded five positive for coronavirus infection after Dubai passangers arrived on May 12, throat swabs report reached to deputy commisioner on May 15.
Three men aged 31, 37 and 52 and two women aged 33 and 38 have tested positive.
The total 49 belonging to Udupi district were quarantined in a hotel in the district. Their throat swabs were collected and sent for testing.
Udupi deputy commissioner said, “As many as 49 people came to Udupi on the Dubai-Mangaluru flight. Tests were conducted on all returnees. Those who are tested positive are shifted to Covid hospital. Regular health check-ups will be conducted of those who are in quarantine centres.”
As part of the effort to bring back Indians stuck in foreign countries because of coronavirus lockdown, 177 were airlifted to India on Tuesday from Dubai. They had arrived at Mangaluru international airport on Tuesday night.
