Puttur : A roadside vendor during lockdown had spent over a lakh rupees for his treatment, after relaxation of lockdown he not gained much business, on June 11, Thursday morning he has ended his life by jumping into a public well close to the place where he was running his business at Padil area of the town, it has come to know.
The deceased is Vittal Naik (63). He was running a Kabab stall in a push cart. It has been gathered that he had suffered a heart attack recently following which he had spent over a lakh towards his treatment. Meanwhile, the lockdown had also hit his business resulting in financial distress as well as mental agony.
Though he had commenced business after relaxation of lockdown, business was not usual further agonising him. It is learnt Vittal Naik who had left home after dinner on Wednesday night had not returned. This morning his footwear and clothes were found near the well. Later the body was retrieved by fire service personnel. The man is survived by his wife, a son and three daughters.
