Mangalore: Out of a 1203 acres of Govt land in DK dt about 49 acres portion has been finally reclaimed from encroachment. With this case, 34 cases are disposed according to Deputy Commissioner, Subodh Yadav.
He was speaking today (March) at a meeting called on land encroachment issues. Out of 245 cases relating to 892 acres of land encroachment, he indicated.
The DC has asked local officers not to antagonise the poor, but reclaim the lands so encroached from the rich persons first. The poor should be spared injustice in all such cases. The Tahsildars should take further measures, after serving notices to the concerned offenders, to take back the govt. lands. He referred to 5 First Information Reports (FIR) that had already been registered in DK Dt on encroached Govt lands.
He cited the case of 12 tanks in 5 Talukas, earlier encroached upon but now reclaimed by administration.
If there are Govt. school lands, DC wanted the Tahsildars to get the documents only after discussing the issue of encroachment with Block Education officers (BEO) concerned. Reclaimed lands claim only the public at large, Yadav advised. He asked the local people always to co-operate with the Revenue Dept.
ADC Prabhakar Sharma, AC’s Prabhulinga Kavalikatti and Harish were present in the review meeting today.
