Mangaluru : DK District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary has said that a 100-bed in-patient facility will soon start functioning at the District Wenlock Hospital.
Presiding over a Covid-19 management meeting held at the DC office on June 26, Friday, Poojary said the administration is aware of the fact that poor patients are affected ever since Wenlock has been converted into a designated Covid-19 Hospital.
The Minister stated that the District presently have 142 Coronavirus cases and that four private labs and a government lab are conducting Covid-19 tests.
Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said Covid-19 patients also have the option to get treated at private hospitals provided they bear the treatment expenses. Those availing treatment in private hospitals under Ayushman scheme will need a recommendation letter from Health Department, she added.
Additional DC M J Roopa, District Surveillance Officer Dr Jagadish, Legislators Dr Bharath Shetty and Y Umanath Kotian were also present.
