Kaup :  A car climbed over a divider and collided against an electric pole, near the old Mescom office of Kaup on the afternoon of Friday, September 11.

The accident claimed the life of the 24-year-old Ashrita Saldanha and the driver of the car Nihal is reportedly in a critical condition.

The other passengers in the car have been identified as Atharva, Anish, Ravi Saxena and Ninad. The three out of the five in the car is reportedly critical. They are admitted to a private hospital in Udupi.

It is said, the electric pole was uprooted in the collision, the car was badly damaged.

Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, sub-inspector Rajashekara B Saganoor and crime sub-inspector I R Gaddekar visited the spot.
