Kasargod: A BJP activist convicted in the murder case of CPM activist Murali. The Kasargod District Additional Sessions (2) court Judge Rajan Thattil, has sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 2 lakh to the first accused, BJP activist Sarath Raj (29)
The court acquitted the other seven accused in the case. The first accused, BJP activist Sarath Raj (29), was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined by Kasargod District Additional Sessions (2) court.
BJP activists Acharya alias Bhinu of Mayippadi Kuthirappadi, Bharat Raj of Kuthirappadi, Mithunkumar of Bela, M Nidhinraj of Kudlu Kaliyangatte, K Kiran Kumar of Kuthirappadi, K Mahesh and SK Ajithkumar of Kuthirappadi were acquitted and released.
On October 27, 2014, at around 4.30 pm on the Kumbala-Badiyadukka road, Murali was traveling with his friend on a bike from the Sithangoli area to Kumbala was murdered by a gang.
The case was registered by the Kumbala police and the chargesheet was filed by the then Kumbala Circle Inspector KP Suresh Babu. Of the 60 witnesses, 32 were examined. Public prosecutor M Abdul Sattar appeared for the prosecution.
