Udupi :  A three-storeyed building collapsed near Chittaranjan circle, in the heart of the city here on Friday, September 18.

The ‘Royal Mahal’ located close to the government mother and child hospital collapsed at noon today. One woman was injured in the incident.

A food stall and a laundry shop which were part of the building were completely damaged.  The first and second floor of the complex had a lodging facility.

It is said, the building is reportedly more than 50 years old.  The building was in a dilapidated condition for several years and continuous rain recently weakened the structure.

The other section of Royal Mahal which contains, two hotels, a bakery, and a petty shop are still conducting their businesses.
