Mangaluru : “It’s not Nehru era, it’s a Modi era. A Muslim should not go to the temple, a beef eater and Muslim should not visit a temple.” a caller on Monday raised objections to the Congress leader Mohiuddin Bava.
The caller who identified himself as Anil from Mumbai raised objections to the Muslim leader entering a temple.
Bava was invited by the priest of Gurupura Ambika Annapoorneshwari temple in Mangaluru’s Bajpe to take part in the start of the Navaratri rituals on Sunday.
Bava can also be heard telling the caller that he was invited to attend the function and that there was nothing wrong with him going over there.
“I have never differentiated between communities. I have not been brought up that way. I visited the temple upon being invited by the priest, I was even told I was fortunate to have taken part in the rituals. The next day I got this call from the man who began threatening me, he asked me why I visited a temple being a Muslim and that this is the era of Modiji and not Nehru. I have informed the Panambur Police about the matter,” Bava said.
A case has now been taken up by the Panambur Police who are investigating the matter.
