Mangaluru : DK District in-charge Minister and State Fisheries Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary unfurled the national flag at 65th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations at Nehru Maidan on November 1, Sunday.
Speaking after unfurling the flag at the national flag minister said, the perfect concept of Kannada stare is completed on November 1, 1956, the formation of the linguistic provinces, Mysore emerged. With the re-naming of Karnataka on November 1, 1973, the country has been emotionally associated with Kannadigas.
A separate e-Kannada Kalika Academy website set up for all those interested in learning Kannada. He also said the state government has given its green signal for a new Industrial Policy and added that an investment of Rs 5 lakh crore and creation of 20 lakh job opportunities is targeted, Minister said.
He also said that a mega Sea Food Park would come up in the district at a cost of Rs 100 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Scheme.
The district’s Rajyotsava Award was presented to the 27 people who achieved excellence in various fields and 11 Organizations.
District Rajyotsava Awards were conferred on 27 achievers and 11 organisations on the occasion. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Bharath Shetty, Mayor Diwaker Pandeshwar, DK ZP Chief Meenakshi Shantigodu, Tulu Academy Chief Dayananda Kattalsar, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, DC Dr K V Rajendra, Western Range IGP Devajyothi Ray, ZP CEO R Selvamani and others were present.
It was a low-key Rajyotsava celebration this year owing to Covid related restrictions.
