Mangalore : A team of doctors from Fr. Muller Medical College Hospital have granted a new lease of life to a 54 yrs old agriculturist hailing from Mulky by performing a very complicated life saving surgery which is very rare in the history of Medical field as per Administrator Fr. Richard Coelho.
The patient (farmer) ailing from cardiac disorders was admitted to I.C.U of the Hospital on 01.04.11 in a very critical condition with acute chest pain and physical weakness but was referred to Chief Interventional Cardiologist Dr. H. Prabhakar.
In a thorough investigation and detailed clinical examination Dr. H. Prabhakar detected aorta which is the main blood vessel which supplies the pure blood to the body is dissected and heavy leakage of blood in the aortic valve, resulting in blockade of blood circulation to the vital organs of the body which warranted emergency surgery to save the life of the patient. Instantly a team of dedicated expert doctors was formed and they swung into action and a very risky innovative surgery was performed by removing the damaged and ruptured parts and by replacing them with the aortic valve and the aortic tube graft, thereby restoring the regular blood supply to the whole body. The entire surgery lasted for 4 hours.
Which was performed by a team of cardiac surgeons comprising of Chief Caridiac Surgeon Dr. A.G. Jayakrishnan, Dr. K.T. Anand, Cardiologists Dr. Sayyed K, Dr. Usha Rao and Cardiac Anaesthetist Dr. Chetana Anand.
The patient is responding to the surgery and is recovering very speedily. and is likely to be discharged within 2 days as informed by Dr. H. Prabhakar.
