Mangalore : In the series of conversion issues, there is yet another case in which around 41 students from Ullal’ s Stella Maria Orphanage, traveling in VRL Bus on the way to Bidar was stopped by the Bajranga Dal activists regarding religious conversion near PVS on April 8, Friday.
Reportedly, the Hindu activist’s team lead by Sharan Pumpwell, Srikar Prabhu and Jithendra Kothari stopped the Bus at PVS Circle and enquired the identities of the children present in the bus. Although most of the children had Hindu names they were wearing a ‘Cross’ around their neck which indicated the intention of the convent.
The activists said that the conversions are done in the name of education to the poor children.
Later the Bajrang Dal activists informed the Child welfare committee President, Asha Nayak, who in turn made primary investigation. The children are remanded to the Remand home in Bondel, Mangalore.
The Sister in charge of the Stella Maria Convent has produced necessary legal documents to the committee to prove that orphanage was not illegal.
