Udupi : The district administration in an order dated March 17, 2021, has declared the MIT Manipal campus as a containment zone. 200m radius from the containment zone has been marked as a buffer zone. For effective implementation of Covid-19 control measures, Raju K, assistant commissioner, Kundapur sub-division has been appointed as the incident commander and will therefore be overall in-charge of the containment zone.
Movement of students within the campus can be allowed with norms which are explained as in MHA guidelines. Faculty and essential duty staff of MIT campus are allowed with proper pass, the order stated.
The order also stated that until the denotification of the containment zone, the entry and exit gate of Trishanku Nagar will be closed temporarily. The entry and exit of Pavitra Nagar residents through the MIT campus will be allowed once they produce ID.
As per the official order the containment zone boundaries are, for the east side – Vivekananda Nagar, in the north – Work Shop Line, in the west – Alevoor Road and in the south – Trishanku Nagar.
The pending first-semester examination of BTech will be rescheduled to a later date as per MIT’s official media release.
