Mangaluru : Veteran writer, researcher, journalist and retired lecturer Prof. B M Ichlangodu passed away at a private hospital in Mangaluru on May 23, Sunday. He was 84.

He was born at Ichlangodu in Kasargod on March 2, 1937. An alumnus of St Aloysius College and MGM College, he did his MA at Mysuru University and pursued law education at Sharada Vilasa Law College of Udupi. He had served as a Lecturer in History at a college in Moodbidri.

Prof. Ichlangodu was passionate researcher of Beary literature and had guided many youngsters. He was a resident of Attavar in Mangaluru.

Prof Ichlangodu was a recipient of numerous awards and had also chaired the third Beary Sahitya Sammelan held at Udupi in 2001.

Prof Ichlangodu is survived by his wife, four sons and a daughter.
