Mangaluru : Police have arrested a person and seized explosive materials which were illegally stocked in a room of the Gandhi Sons Building at Bunder in Mangaluru on Monday.

The arrested person is Anand Gatti (50), a resident of Mudipu Kairangala in Bantwal taluk. The seized explosives include 400 kg sulphur powder, 350 kg potassium nitrate, 50 kg barium nitrate, 395 kg potassium chlorate, 260 kg alumninium powder, 30 kg lead balls and 240 kg charcoal among other things. The value of the seized explosives has been estimated at Rs 1.11 lakhs.

Following a tip off that explosives have been stocked illegally, Law and Order DCP Hariram Shanker had inspected the place.

The accused Anand Gatti was running a gun shop in Bunder area. The accused has been produced before the court and handed over to 10 days police custody.Police are investigating if more people are behind this illegal act.
