Mangaluru : Seven Kannadigas who returned to their homeland from Afghanistan on Sunday August 22, five of them from Mangaluru.
The government has airlifted Indian citizens stranded in Afghanistan. Dinesh Rai from Bajpe, Jagadish Poojary from Hosangady near Moodbidri, Desmond Davis D’Souza from Kinnigoli Pakshikere, Prasand Anand from Thokkottu and Shravan Anchan from Urwa were airlifted from Afghanistan on Sunday. Two others, Heerak Debnath from Marathahalli Bengaluru and Tanveer Ballari Abdul from Sandur Ballari reached New Delhi on Sunday.
They came back in an Air India Express flight and an Indian Air Force flight. They were taken to Qatar from Afghanistan before bringing them here.
