Bantwal :  Vittal Town Panchayat staff has attempted suicide by jumping into the Netravathi river from the Netravathi bridge in Bantwal.

The man has been identified as Rajesh. Before attempting suicide he has even left behind a note stating he was taking extreme step frustrated by allegation of bribery against him. He was rescued by locals who saw him jumping into the river.

It may be recalled here that a former member of the town panchayat had alleged that Rajesh had demanded bribe over the issue of sanction of house to a person from Vittal Mangaladapavu. Rajesh who was agonised had even sent whatsApp voice message to many on Thursday morning stating the allegation was false.

His friends who came to know of this managed to rescue him and admit him to hospital.
