Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Association members staged a protest in front of the Clock Tower here on June 4, Saturday to oppose the FIR registered against three journalists by the Uppinangady Police.
Speaking on the occasion, Association President Srinivas Nayak Indaje said the journalists who had been to the Uppinangady College to cover an incident, were waylaid and attacked and their cameras snatched. Instead of taking action against those responsible for the attack, the cops have filed FIR against journalists, he said.
He demanded action against Uppinangady SI and said the issue would be raised with the Chief Minister, Home Minister and District in-charge Minister.
Journalists Jagannath Bala, P B Harish Rai who also spoke condemned the police for filing FIR against journalists.
Later the protesting journalists went to the SP office and summitted a memorandum to SP Rishikesh Sonawane.
