Mangaluru : District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Kannada and Culture Department and Okkaligara yane Gowdara Seva Sangha jointly organised Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanthi celebrations at Tulu Bhavan on June 27, Monday.
The celebration was inaugurated by MLA D Vedavyas Kamath.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kamath said the contributions of Kempegowda, the architect of Bengaluru, and his achievements are an inspiration to the present generation.
ZP CEO Dr Kumar said if Bengaluru is today attracting the attention of the world as an IT BT city, there has been the pioneering effort of Kempegowda behind it.
State level trainer Rajendra Bhat K spoke on Kempegowda.
Mayor Premanand Shetty, MUDA Chairman Ravishanker Mijar, Kannada Sahitya Parishat District President M P Srinath, Assistant Commissioner Madan Mohan and others were present.
The event however turned out to be a damp squib as most of the guests whose names were mentioned on the invitation card abstained. There were no audience for the event and the chairs had to be removed.
