Mangalore: Mayor Praveen Anchan flagged off the MCC’s ‘Civic Tiger’ vehicle at the premises of Town Hall on April 21, Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that the raid on the foot path vendors have been held continuously from part three years and still there has been no changes, further this civic tiger vehicle will monitor the city roads every day.
MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash said that the street vendors menace has been seen near State Bank, Central Market, Lady Goshen road and other places. The encroachment by the street vendors with their push cart has made no foot path and road.
Once the operation is over, the encroachment will continue on the either sides of the road under the leadership of one revenue officer and one health officer in vulnerable places, he said.
Commissioner said that this is the first experiments introduced under the city corporation and it the authorities are confident to overcome the issue. Although, the vehicle used by the MCC at present is not comfortable, it will be used until get the new vehicle. Further more vehicles will be implemented.
Speaking about the seized items, he said that the items seized will be given to rehabilitation centre. The staffs are out source and Police Commsioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and DC Subodh Yadav have extende full support, he added.
Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak, Corporator Premanand Shetty, Shantha R, Revenue officer Meghana Gadkar were present.
