Mangalore: Talking to Press persons on Thursday at the JDS office in Mangalore as party’s new secretary and a spokesman, M.G Hegde hoped that the JDS which he joined recently after leaving Congress, would build up its future on the west coast also, as it did elsewhere in the state.
Through social service and fighting for the rights of the poor people, JDS could strengthen its place in the coastal belt, in a slow and safe way, he said.
A youth force will be formed in the district to attract large member of youths to JD-S, but they will not be communal in nature, while working for social betterment.
Hegde said his new party (JDS) would give a tough fight to both Congress and BJP, by fielding efficient candidates during the next MCC elections, to increase JDS representation in the civic body.
He referred to H.D Kumaraswamy as a leader who exposed several BJP scandals in the state on many issues, legal or illegal (mining).
JDS DK chief, MB Sadashiva, who also spoke at the meet, hoped that his party would uphold group leadership and internal democracy, to fight both corruption and communalism in the region.
