Gadag : Former Chief Minister and Haveri-Gadag MP Basavaraj Bommai emphasized that politicians aspiring for growth should not foster hostility with voters.
Speaking at a felicitation ceremony for Shirahatti Mandal workers and leaders at the Jagadguru Rambhapuri Kalyan Mantap here on Saturday, he said success would come when politicians change their attitudes and approach voters with confidence.
Criticising the state Congress government and calling it anti-farmer and lacking in development, the BJP leader accused the government of stopping student scholarships and failing to provide proper drought relief funds.
Bommai said he has appealed to central ministers to upgrade the Karwar-Ilkal road to a national highway, which received a positive response. The previous BJP government had approved the Yalavigi-Gadag railway, for which he had allocated ₹600 crores in the budget during his tenure as Chief Minister, but the current government has failed to implement the project. ” I am committed to financially and educationally development ofthe constituency and maintain unity in upcoming local elections for the party’s victory”.
