Mumbai : The Sports association of Moya Community, Jai Hind Sports Club hosted 58th R N Utchil Memorial Annual Athletics Meet, on 10th November, 2024, at Karnataka Sporting Association Ground, Churchgate, Mumbai.
The meet started with an opening ceremony by one of the senior members of the Club Narayan B Udyawar and the President of the Club Satish N Uchil declared the 58th Late R N Utchil Memorial Athletics Meet open.
Thereafter a silence was observed as a mark of respect to the Ex-President of the Club and well known athlete of Moya community Late Purushotham K Ail who left for his heavenly abode very recently.
The events of the meet consisted of various series of races for different age groups and distances, followed by many games like aiming the ball, chocolate race, for our tiny tots. Kids Javelin throw for Children below the age group of 15 years, Long Jump for various age groups was also organised where a display of strength, persistence and agility were shown by all the participants. A power packed event of Shot put took place for both Men and Women of various age groups which was the most participated event of the day. The participants put on a very good show of strength throughout the event to keep bettering their performances. Walk Event was organized for the old age groups for various age groups of men and women.
Inter Kutumba Relay Race was the most exciting event of the first of the day where the support and cheering was at the maximum which was contested by seven Kutumbas namely Atingeremoyar, Arodimoyar, Karpatkiriya,, Ulladamoyar, Belmathmoyar, Kodkatmoyar, Oonmoyar and one team names as President’s Four. Race was won by Karpatkiriya, 2nd position went to Atingeremoyar and 3rd was Ulladamoyar.
Then Tug of War, for both men and women divided as Central and Western. The women competition witnessed both side trying to pull the rope towards them to defeat the opponent. The event was won by womens of Central side. In Mens game the battle between Central and Western was showcased not only physical strength but also strategic teamwork. The cheers from the side-lines echoed the intensity of the contest, creating an electric atmosphere. It was a tough competition and was finally won by Men’s of Central team.
Next was a fun game between two teams Central and Western mixed with Boys and Girls, It’s Hula Hoop Ring Pass game enjoyed by everyone. Once again Central team proves better.
The last event for the day was Football match between Central and Western Teams It was a one sided game from the beginning and easily won by Western team with the score of 5 – 0. At last Western team had something to cheer about in the Team games.
C K Udyawar, Pramod S Uchil, Chandrakant S Uchil, Jayant S Uchil, Surendra B Uchil, Manjula R Utchil and Lata M Udyawar awarded the Prizes and Certificates to the winners.
Narayan B Udyawar Felicitated some of budding youngsters for their outstanding achievement in various fields of sports. Each of them has made a lasting impression by demonstrating that anything is possible with hard work and dedication.
They are: Ms Avika Avinash Udyawar Daughter of Avinash Udyawar and Kajal Udyawar.
For winning Bronze Medal at Maharashtra State Sub- Junior Karate Championship 2024 held at Balewadi, Pune.
Ishan S Ail Son of Shrikant Ail and Smitha Ail For winning Gold and Bronze in the 11th RGOI National Roller Skating Championship 2023-24.
Kavin Pradeep Udyawar Son of Pradeep M Udyawar and Divya Udyawar, Grandson of Late Mr.Purushotham K Ail. Kavin for making remarkable strides in his Athletics career. Kavin has recently won Gold Medal in Decathlon under 20 years event at Maharashtra State Athletics Meet held in Pune. Kavin will be representing Maharashtra State in December 2024 Nationals Junior Championships at Bhubaneswar.
After the felicitation Raja R Utchil eminent Athlete and son of Late R N Utchil presented the Championship Trophies to the winners under various categories as under:

Tanisha Subhash Shiriya, Anand Ambu Udyawar Memorial Trophy for Champion Boy above 18 years and below 25 years Kirtan Uchil and R N Utchil Memorial Trophy for the Best Sports Person of the year Trishi G Uchil
Karpatkiryamoyar became the maiden winners of Champion Kutumba of the year Trophy, they collected maximum points by winning various events. Chandrakant S Uchil announced the winner and invited senior lady member of Karpatkiryamoyar Kutumba to come forward to collect the Trophy, Chandrakant S Uchil handed over the Trophy to Usha G Uchil.
Darshan Battapadi, the Secretary of the Club thanked all the participants and winners for their display of talent, enthusiasm, concentration and persistence in action and also thanked the audience for their support and encouragement to the players. More than 200 Moyars participated.
