Mangaluru : Pan India Yi celebrated Masoom Week from 11th-16thNovember 2024 by organizing different programs, activities and events. The aim has been to acknowledge 14th November since it is celebrated as Bal Diwas (Children’s day) in India and to commemorate 20th November that is universally celebrated as Children’s Day. Below is our itinerary for the entire week.
11th NOV, Monday
Live interview on project Masoom by Ms. M. Athmika Amin, Chairperson Yi Mangaluru Chapter, CA Salome Lobo Pereira, Co-chairperson Yi Mangaluru and Ashish Rai, Convenor – YUVA Badminton Tournament, Yi Mangaluru Chapter.
12th Nov, Tuesday
DIGILANTE Session at Government School, Managudda talking to kids about How to keep themselves safe Online by Mrs. Aditi Abhinav Bansal and Dr. Megha Gokul.
13th Nov, Wednesday
Personal safety education session at Roman and Catherine Lobo School for the visually impaired. Yi Masoom Chair Mrs. Aditi Bansal and member Dr. Megha Gokul conducted a session for the blind students teaching them about how to recognize safe and unsafe touch, how to respond and report.
14th Nov, Thursday
FM Session with BIG FM with Guest Speaker – Where Mrs. Aditi Bansal Director, AK Bansal Group, also Chair Project Masoom YI Mangaluru and Mr. Preetham Rodrigues Founder, Inchaara Foundation spoke about How to create safe space for kids at home to reach out both Urban / Rural Masses.
15th Nov, Friday
YI Mangaluru in Collaboration with our YUVA College St Joseph Engineering College formed a Human Chain with 1098 YUVA Students along with their faculty and YI Members at Vamanjoor Junction at 11am. Idea was to Spread Awareness about Childline 1098 (supported by Ministry of Women and Child Development).
The initiative, organized by Masoom Vertical (Yi) Mangaluru, aimed to shed light on the critical issue of child sexual abuse and promote the use of Childline 1098, the helpline dedicated to protecting children in distress.
Yi Members Present were Yi Mangaluru Chair Ms. M Athmika Amin and Co-Chair Salome Lobo, YI Masoom Chair Mrs. Adti Abhinav Bansal and Co-Chair Abhinav Bansal, other YI Members Sharan Shetty, Suparna Shetty, Adeeth KalBhavi, Ashrika Amin, Durgadas Shetty.
From St Joseph’s Engineering College Principal Dr Rio D’Souza, Director Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Assistant Director Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta and Student Convener Ashwin Shetty and faculty.
The event was graced by ACP Najma Farooqi, who served as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, ACP Farooqi spoke passionately about the need for greater awareness around child sexual abuse. She emphasized on how we should all work together to solve this issue and She would always support us for such causes in the future.
Childline Mangaluru Supervisor Mr. Nagaraj also shared vital information about their services and encouraging students to spread the word about the helpline’s importance.
The participation of exactly 1,098 students was symbolic, aligning with the helpline number, 1098. The human chain, stretching across 1.6km, underscored the commitment of the younger generation to protect and empower children.
Yi Mangaluru extends its heartfelt gratitude to their unwavering support to reach out to the masses and to spread awareness about this Nobel Cause.
