CM Yeddyurappa has promised to recommend the name of actor Dr.Rajkumar posthumously for the highest national title of ‘Bharat Ratna’, to the Centre. Dr.Rajkumar in his field of entertainment has already secured the recognition of Dadasaheb Phalke award in his lifetime. But ‘Bharat Ratna’ is different, it is denied even to Sachin Tendulkar, another (cricket) entertainer, as rules do not permit, it was revealed last week.
Nevertheless on the occasion of actor (Muthu) Raj Kuamar’s birthday, CM lauded him as a great actor and deserves a high national award in recognition, so his name would be sent up for due consideration at the national levels.
The Govt. has released 5 crores towards a memorial for him in Bangalore city. An award is bestowed every year in his name to any artiste of repute. The state is always ready to aid filmdom.
Dr.Rajkumar has great name to Kannada films at the national levels, the CM elaborated.
