Mangaluru : Three engineering graduates from Bengaluru who were on a trip to Mangaluru, drowned in Hosabettu beach Sea in Surathkal police limits on Wednesday.

The deceased as Manjunath, a native of Upparigenahalli in Chitradurga district, Shivakumar Matapathi, a native of Vijayapura district, and Sathyavelu Venkatesan, a native of Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu.

The three, along with Parameshwar, a native of Bidar district, left Bengaluru on Tuesday night by a car and reached Mangaluru on Wednesday morning. All were former students of AMC Engineering College in Bengaluru.

After having breakfast at a hotel in Surathkal, the four ventured into the sea at Hosabettu beach. While three of them were swept away by strong currents, fishermen Vidyadhar and his friends were able to rescue Parameshwar.

The Surathkal police have registered a case and have sent the bodies for post-mortem.
