Mangalore : The inaugural of ten day exhibition cum sales of Handloom Cluster Products from Priyadarshini was held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pandeshwar on May 9, Tuesday.
An exhibition was organized by the Integrated Handloom Development Scheme sponsored by the development commissioner for textile Development and Director of Handlooms and Textiles. It is implemented by the Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation Ltd, Hubli.
Speaking after inaugurating the exhibition, Mohammed Mohsin, managing director of KHDC Ltd, Hubli said that the commission has decided to organize the exhibition in four places and first is being organized in Mangalore.
He also said that the aim of the commission is to give an opportunity for the weavers of the Handloom face to face with the customers and sell their products.
Last year the commission made the business of Rs 135 crore and there are 80,000 weavers who are depending on the commission.
MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash, V S Devraj, chief manager, KHDC Ltd and Yogeshwar were present.
