Bangalore: The state Governor, Hans Raj Bhardwaj, in his political preparedness with ebullience, has staked a claim to rule over Karnataka, dismissing their majority BJP elected government. “Either they or I –Chooses anyone” is his message in a letter sent on Sunday to the Central Govt, trying to impose President’s rule through him in a corruption-corroded world in Bangalore. Hans Raj has threatened to put in his papers if he is ignored, which has put the UPA government in a quandary today.
The Centre has assured a BJP delegation on Monday (May 16) that it would not do anything unconstitutional. CM Yeddyurappa was in Delhi on Monday night with 120 MLAs in a crowd, ready to meet PM or the President for a head-count of his legislators. Governor’s advice and that would raise blood pressure in the Raj Bhawan. Karnataka’s case is above manipulations to serve HRB.
However, Governor HR Bhardwaj is not ready to compromise or change his tune. Perhaps he has waited too long to remain unaffected, by BJP rebukes and games it could play. But this time, not Nitin Gadkari only, but Congress Govt at the Centre is on Yeddyurappa’s side. That is a wonder.
Right now, UPA (and Congress) is in the midst of new Congress Govts. Coming to power, in Kerala (UDF), West Bengal (with Trinamool in a team), Assam (hat-trick for CM Gogoi, as in Delhi for Sheila Dixit), and it would not like to be robbed of the joy of success, or it may not want to “spoil the party” as they say.
BJP top leadership has instructed CM Yeddy to conduct a parade of all 120 MLAs in Raj Bhawan (Bangalore) on Wednesday (May 18). K.S Eshwarappa is agreeable to this arrangement. All will return to Bangalore to face the Governor, if he is still there.
However the parade will be made at Rashtrapathi Bhawan on Tuesday by 6pm in Delhi, as a formality only.
