Mangalore: The Energy minister, Shobha Karandlaje, laid the foundation stone for KEB Engineers Association’s Zonal office building proposed at Kavoor, by ceremoniously unveiling a plaque at Lions’ Club Centre in Mallikatte close to MESCOM building here.
The minister claimed that there was no shortage of power in the state now and un interrupted power supply would be provided in view of good rains. Power stations were in shortage and service lines often created now problems. The government has decided to construct 176 new power stations in 2011 all over Karnataka , but funds did not pose any difficulty.
About 400 linesmen will be recruited by MESCOM only, and 2500 all over the state on merit basis. MESCOM provided 3-phase current for over 6 hours.
