Mangalore: It is only when Krishna Palemar as DK minister goes round that a solution is found, be it displaced families at MSEZ, or the footpath vendors driven out and looted by MCC ‘Tiger Van’ activists. Palemar said on Tuesday (June 28) that he would call an urgent meeting to discuss an alternate arrangement for the evicted street vendors in city market areas. Obviously, that should be music to the CITY leaders and their followers, who had protested at MCC precincts the other day in rain or sunshine for days in the fast.
The minister visited the central market, inspected the fish market, and had a look at the meat-selling market too, also met some of the hawkers at the city bus station this morning. He asked sellers in all these markets, to maintain clean surroundings, and not to dump the waste materials in public places. Hawkers should not create sanitation problems for citizens, he added. To media queries the minister assured that DK Dt. administration and MCC would resolve the issue at the earliest MCC Commissioner, Dy. Commissioner, and Concerned officials would take part in the deliberations to provide alternate places to the lowly street hawkers and the deserving vendors.
