Mangalore : Those who had casual leave of a day on Saturday (July 3) extended their holidays at home or in village villas to 3 days, and went to sleep, or watch TV for world Football and other such entertainment. It was raining throughout the week end (Saturday/Sunday) with highest rainfall recorded on the coast at Mangalore. The Bundh on Monday was success due to incessant rains and boredom, besides resting day to many in trade and business, who worked hard on Sunday to earn and buy food for the Bundh day.
The BJP and leftist forces all combined with JD-s blessings, for Monday bundh(closure)of markets, transport, cinemas, and schools, as also offices. Post offices (central) remained open and police were on the prowl to catch mischief makers. The strain on public working class people was such that none ventured out of their holes in city and suburbs, until morning rains stopped. But hotels were not open at 10 am, no newspapers except the Udayavani on a rainy day to chew, and no autos. The tired people are expected to come out refreshed and hungry on Tuesday, July 6.
